The Case Selection Committee met April 24th and selected one case for amicus briefing:
Romine v. Johnson Controls, Inc. (PLAC # 14-113) - PLAC will file an amicus letter urging the CA Supreme Court to review an intermediate appellate court ruling allowing a plaintiff to pursue a consumer expectation theory in a complex high-speed multi-vehicle accident involving a seat collapse; contrary to CA precedent in Soule v. General Motors – 8 Cal.4th 548 (1994) (PLAC # 93-109) and the law of many other jurisdictions. PLAC's letter brief will be authored by Alan Lazarus, Drinker Biddle, San Francisco.
Remember - if you would like to receive copies of PLAC amicus briefs when filed and resulting court decisions when rendered you want to be part of the Amicus eGroup. This group is not open for general enrollment – please contact me if you would like to join.
