TOUR OF THE CENTER FOR WOMEN IN LAW AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

Join us for a tour of the Center For Women in Law at the University of Texas from 10:30am - 11:30am.

The essential Central Texas detour! We start with a city overview, showing you all the major landmarks, and then leave the tourist areas for the “real” Austin where you’ll see hidden gems only a local would know about. Hear about the lifestyle, food, music, and history while zipping around the city’s best areas. Then we’ll head for the hills, literally, as we wind through our beautiful Hill Country. Wildflowers and wineries dot the landscape and you feel as if you’ve entered a different world. Finally we’ll arrive at the most famous BBQ pit in Central Texas – The Salt Lick. You’ll experience why 2,000 people a day flock here to indulge on famous brisket and out of this world sides. If you only have day to “see it all” this is the detour for you!

FUTURE LEADERS LUNCHEON, HOSTED BY EXPONENT (by invitation only)

Join young experts from Exponent and PLAC Future Leaders for a luncheon hosted by our long-term partners, Exponent.

FUTURE LEADERS MOCK R702 PRESENTATION

PLAC’s Future Leaders steering committee has organized an exercise to provide eight Future Leader attorneys and four Next Gen Exponent experts the opportunity to prepare for and participate in a mock R 702 hearing. Using case materials from the trial in Sardis v Overhead Door, the experts will prepare reports with two serving as plaintiff's experts and two as defendant's experts. Each Future Leader will work with an assigned Sustaining member to prepare either a direct or cross examination of an Exponent expert. Counsel for the defense will also work with a junior in-house counsel member to develop strategy. This exercise will take place in late August in Cleveland, OH, with the Hon. Philip Calabrese, ND Ohio, presiding.

Join us on October 4 from 3:00 - 4:30 PM in Austin to watch video segments of the depositions and hear from the participants as well as from a panel of Sustaining members, joined by Judge Calabrese, who will provide feedback and commentary to the participants.
